To win the tournament, he needed to win two events; his first event with his new Bussie, Rene, and his second with a new Angler knife named Rene. He caught his two bass event trophies in the first two days of the tournament, but did not feel comfortable in winning the championship the first day because he felt that it was not his style. As you can imagine, this did not go over well with the other anglers in the tournament, but he won anyway.
What is so unique about the way Bob Schill won the world’s biggest and longest tournament of its kind? To compete in such a tournament, you have to be one of the top 10 anglers in the world, and all of those criteria are quite hard to fulfill. Bob, who is forty years old, became interested in bass around twenty years ago and began playing at buggs island around two years ago. He has been trying to qualify for the world’s Bass Pro tour, but every time he has qualified he has beaten out the pros and taken first or second place.
The strange part about American bass is that, even though they are not known as the world’s top 500 anglers, they are still very competitive. Bob has won the American bass tournament four out of the past five years. Does this mean that he is the greatest bass angler of all time? Well, no, but it also means that he is certainly amongst the more experienced players in the game. He has beat out the best and has clawed his way up to a trophy that is probably worth more than he will ever earn in his entire life. If Bob had been competing against the top anglers in the world then he would be on a different level altogether.
Bob has beaten out some names in the world of American bass anglers such as Russ Hamilton, Charlo, Mickey Hamilton, Mike Doyle and Don Marquis. The first three bass fishing events that we are going to cover on our tour through bass fishing for beginners in America, were held on Tuesday, October 16th. On Tuesday October, we had the best opportunity to catch the biggest fish we could find for free. On the next two weekends, we had a little more success catching fish but still ended up missing the biggest fish we could find.
